Retired Police Officer and Special Education Assistant Win Kitchen Makeover Giveaway

Local remodeling company, OHi, gladly announces that Jim & Karen Hutton of Arlington Heights have won the Showing Kindness to the Kindest kitchen upgrade giveaway.

After receiving countless nominations from community members hailing their family, friends, and neighbors as the kindest people they know, OHi selected the Huttons due to their consistent approach of selflessness, service, kindness, tenacity, and grace in the face of challenges in their respective places of work, as well as their personal lives.

"I cannot express to you how many tears of joy were shed by our team members as we watched and read all these nominations," said OHi president John Kautz. "Sometimes in our world we forget how much kindness there is around us. This contest was an amazing testament to that, and we were blessed to see all the good that's happening right in our backyard."

The Huttons were nominated by their children for the kitchen upgrade. Their video submission shared the story of both Mr. and Mrs. Hutton pouring into the community continually for decades in both their respective lines of work, and through additional acts of kindness. Mr. Hutton is also a stage four cancer survivor, having beaten a rare and aggressive form of the disease. Despite the setbacks that can come with a harrowing diagnosis, Jim & Karen continue giving back to their friends, family, and community.

Kautz said, "We are so excited to work with the Huttons on their kitchen. They truly embody kindness in every sense of the word. Our team can't wait to give back to Jim & Karen the way they've constantly given back to our community."
