Wheaton church to tell 'Visitations -An Advent Story' Dec. 22
First Presbyterian Church of Wheaton invites the community to "Visitations - An Advent Story" during the 8:30 and 11 a.m. worship on Sunday, Dec. 22.
Over 2,000 years ago the people of Israel were weary of waiting for their Savior. Most were caught off guard when he was born in a stable. Like them, you may often give up on your prayers, believing nothing is going to happen. Just when you aren't looking for God, he often shows up and intervenes when you least expect it. In this series, the Rev. Kellen Smith is sharing stories of people who experienced unexpected visitations in the Christmas story.
On Christmas Eve, the Children's Ministry invites you to a special family worship experience to celebrate Jesus' birth at 4 p.m. in the Ministry Center. There will be pre-service music performed by the children, as well as 24 children on stage taking turns telling the Christmas story. All of the children will have an opportunity to come up on stage during the service to ring bells or play chimes. Story props will be available for children to hold up during the telling of the story.
The candlelight services with Holy Communion will be at 6, 8 and 10 p.m. in the sanctuary. The 6 p.m. worship will feature acoustic music. Westminster Choir & Orchestra will perform at the 8 p.m. service. The 10 p.m. worship will feature the Vocal Ensemble and Orchestra.
The church is at 715 N. Carlton Ave. in Wheaton. For information, call (630) 668-5147 or visit www.firstpreswheaton.org.
