Geneva's Christmas Walk was downtown Friday night. Graham's Candy Cane Parade culminated with Zoe Hogan, 10, presenting Graham's Fine Chocolates' first candy cane of the season. 15-ft. soldier marionettes fell in line behind trumpeters accompanied by the Geneva High School Drumline & Colorguard. Dickens carolers sang "Santa Lucia" just before the new Geneva town tree was lit for the first time.

"Chief" Allyson Bello, an eighth-grader from Ellis Middle School, elicits smiles all around after calling in the Elgin Police Department day shift on the radio during roll call Tuesday. Bello and three other middle schoolers were "chief for a day" after winning an anti-bullying poster competition at each of their schools. Sgt. Chicago Bears cornerback Prince Amukamara made a special appearance at Great Wolf Lodge Illinois in Gurnee on Tuesday, to launch the resort's annual Snowland celebration and kickoff a special holiday campaign that will benefit Make-A-Wish, an organization that grants wishes for children facing critical illness. Make-A-Wish alumni Grace Fladhammer, 8, of Wauconda, was on hand with her family to participate in the festivities.

Meghan Flannagan leads a yoga class as physical education classes at Metea Valley High School in Aurora hosted a Stop Everything and Chill day Wednesday before finals start next week as a way to promote student mental health by encouraging relaxation. Students heard a short mental health presentation, then got to engage in a variety of "chill" activities during their gym class.
