Glenbard high schools in top 20% of Illinois schools among U.S. News & World Report Best High Schools
Glenbard District 87's four high schools are in the top 20% of Illinois schools in U.S. News & World Report's 2019 listing of America's Best High Schools. Among 665 Illinois high schools, Glenbard West was ranked 21st in Illinois; Glenbard South was ranked 58th; Glenbard North was ranked 117th; and Glenbard East was ranked 128th.
Superintendent David Larson said, "We are proud to be ranked among the Best High Schools. It is affirming that the rankings are based on the same areas we focus on, including college readiness indicators, reading and math proficiency and success in Advanced Placement courses and exams. We appreciate the support of our students' families and our staff. Together, they are helping students prepare for success after high school."
U.S. News & World Report's list of best high schools evaluates more than 23,000 public high schools nationwide. This year, U.S. News & World Report significantly revamped its methodology, using 2016-17 data. The new methodology ranks schools based on multiple factors. In the past, a school's numerical ranking was based on just one factor: a school's College Readiness Index. This year, U.S. News & World Report rated schools based on a mix of students' college readiness indicators; percentage of students who took and passed Advanced Placement or International Baccalaureate courses and exams; reading and math proficiency on the SAT and graduation rate.
