Free Singing Lessons with Brotherhood of Harmony starting March 7

Men and Women of all ages are invited to participate in free singing lessons provided through the Brotherhood of Harmony, the county's premiere a cappella chorus.

Brian Cromer, music director of the Brotherhood of Harmony, is teaching a free course titled "Ready, Set, Sing!" in Palatine.

"Give us six Thursday evenings," Cromer said, "and we'll give you the skills you need to experience all the fun of solo or group singing."

Classes run Thursdays at 7:15 p.m. for one hour each from March 7 through April 11 at DeerGrove Covenant Church - 225 E. Helen Road, Palatine. Singers of all skill levels and experience are invited, and all learning materials are free.

"You don't even need to be able to read music," Cromer said. "We'll teach you everything you need to know to sing richly and produce ear-pleasing resonant chords. Our participants will quickly be producing beautiful harmony without the aid of a piano and in the company of a great bunch of fellow singers."

"In our experience, we have found that everyone sings. Whether it be in church, in the car, or in the shower, people have a natural desire to express ourselves in song," Ted Gault, President of the Brotherhood of Harmony, said. "But many of us are unsure about singing in front of others. Through this program, we want to help everyone get the most beautiful sound possible from their voice."
