Glenbard to hold academic excellence ceremony

Glenbard Township High School District 87 will present its annual Academic Excellence Ceremony Monday, Nov. 26.

The ceremony celebrates the exceptional achievement of dozens of Glenbard District 87 students. Glenbard District 87 will honor students who are National Merit Commended Students, National Merit Semifinalists, National Hispanic Recognition Program Scholars and those who earned a perfect score on the ACT.

A student representative from each high school will speak about what their Glenbard education means to them.

The ceremony begins at 7 p.m. Nov. 26 at Glenbard South High School.

National Merit Semifinalists:

Graeme Leighton, Grace Schwieters and Eha Srivastava, all from Glenbard East; Laura Ribeiro, Glenbard North; Molly Friedman, Glenbard South; and Peter Blatchford, Emilia Carlson, Samra Haseeb, Benjamin Kelleher, Ahalya Lettenberger, Eleanor Ostroff, Sarah Pasinski and Henry Stachowiak, all from Glenbard West.

National Merit Commended Students:

Lauren Elias and Graham Wendorff, both from Glenbard East; Jaden Duenas and Sachi Shukla, both from Glenbard North; Laura Reese and Rachel Visick, both from Glenbard South; and Claire Bletsas, Samantha Hedley, Alexander Kernagis, PJ Knapke, Ellie Morrison, William O'Brien, Jack Phillipson, George Salafatinos, Zoe Sandacz, Yuvia Serna and Eve Shanahan, all from Glenbard West.

National Hispanic Recognition Program Scholars:

Diego Quevedo Carrasco from Glenbard East; and Jaden Duenas and Luis Vera, both from Glenbard North.

Perfect ACT score:

Graeme Leighton from Glenbard East; Trevor Carter from Glenbard South; and Francis Sheehy and Ben Kelleher, both from Glenbard West
