Celebrate life and music of Judy Garland with Angela Ingersoll Sept. 22
Award-winning dynamo Angela Ingersoll brings "Get Happy," her concert celebration of American icon Judy Garland, to the Elgin Community College Arts Center on Saturday, Sept. 22. The performance begins at 3 p.m.
Backed by an exceptional six-piece band, Ingersoll superbly captures Garland's emotional and vocal power during this evening of passionate storytelling, winning humor and awe-inspiring song presented by Artists Lounge Live.
Ingersoll won acclaim for her stunning portrayal of Garland in the play "End of the Rainbow" (Chicago, Los Angeles) as well as for the recently debuted PBS Television concert special of "Get Happy."
Live in concert, Ingersoll shines as a force all her own and soars on songs like "Over the Rainbow," "Come Rain or Come Shine" and "The Man That Got Away." The Chicago Sun-Times calls Ingersoll, "Phenomenal. Judy Garland has been reborn," and the Los Angeles Times declares, "the incandescent star power of the dynamic Ingersoll (is) a ringer for Garland in every respect."
For her star turn portraying Garland in the play "End of the Rainbow" (Chicago, Los Angeles), Ingersoll earned Chicago's Jeff Award, a Broadway World Award and Top Performances honors from both the Chicago Tribune and Chicago Sun-Times. Her compelling presence attracted the attention of Garland's family and led to Ingersoll enjoying the distinction of partnering with Garland's son onstage for "Joey Luft and Angela Ingersoll Celebrate Judy Garland." Other standout performances include "How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying" (Hedy LaRue, Jeff Award Nomination); Disney's "Beauty and the Beast" (Belle, Ostrander Award); "Jekyll and Hyde" (Lucy, Ostrander Award); "The Secret Garden" (Martha, Jeff Award Nomination); "Macbeth" (Lady Macbeth, Ostrander Award); "Richard III" (Lady Anne); and "The Wizard of Oz" (Dorothy).
