Glenbard Parent Series event: Navigating the Educational System

The Glenbard Parent Series/Spanish will host a back-to-school picnic at 6 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 23, in the cafeteria at Glenbard East High School.

Julian Lazalde of the Latino Policy Forum will present a program in Spanish titled Navigating the Educational System. Participants will learn about post-secondary options, how to access resources, and how to effectively partner with educators for their teens' success.

After the picnic, Pulitzer Prize winning author Sonia Nazario will be at Glenbard East to speak to the public in English about her best-selling book "Enrique's Journey." The book, available in English and Spanish, chronicles a Honduran child's search for his mother and a family's desperate struggles to unite. Nazario's presentation will begin at 7 p.m. Aug. 23 at Glenbard East, 1014 S. Main St. in Lombard.

CPDU's are available.
