Glenbard parenting event will share strategies to help teens plan, organize
The Glenbard Parent Series: (GPS) Navigating Healthy Families will present Strategies for Improving Executive Function Skills to Plan, Organize and Self-Monitor for School Success with Sarah Ward on Tuesday, Dec. 6.
Students with executive function deficits have problems completing homework, organizing materials and staying on task. The ability to manage time and work independently are skills students need every day. Ward will provide parents, students and educators with a better understanding of executive functioning deficits and the tools to cope with them effectively. This presentation will focus on the simple techniques that can be used to help students strengthen their learning skills:
• Close the homework circle by supporting students in recording, bringing home, completing and returning assignments
• Create a positive and productive environment for homework completion
• Learn to organize and process information for assignments, long-term projects and study skills
This program will begin at 7 p.m. Dec. 6 at Glenbard South High School, 23W200 Butterfield Road in Glen Ellyn. CPDUs are available.
Ward is co-director of Cognitive Connections in Massachusetts.
