Glenbard to host ACT math review, Hispanic Parent Leadership Academy

The Glenbard Parent Series: (GPS) Navigating Healthy Families/Spanish will present Grooming for Excellence, a Hispanic Parent Leadership Academy at 6:30 p.m. Friday, April 8, in the library at Glenbard East. This free workshop academy, facilitated in Spanish by Lourdes Ferrer, will provide Hispanic parents with the knowledge they need to navigate the American educational system and become empowered to become self advocates as they learn the resources for academic success and gain information on the skills necessary for today's careers.

Ferrer is an award-winning Hispanic academic achievement and parental involvement specialist who has developed numerous programs designed to increase all students' academic achievement.

Hispanic parents will be inspired and motivated to become role models among peers and assume leadership roles in their community. Parents also will learn how to increase students' college and career readiness, motivate them to pursue STEM-related degrees and graduate college with the least amount of debt.

Also, Ferrer will present a free ACT math review session to Glenbard students from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, April 9, in the library at Glenbard East, 1014 S. Main St. in Lombard. Students must register for this review session by Friday, April 8, by sending an email to Gilda Ross, Glenbard District 87 student and community projects coordinator, at gilda_ross@glenbard.org.
