2 Glenbard Parent Series events focus on resilience, coping skills

The Glenbard Parent Series: (GPS) Navigating Healthy Families will present the Skills to Succeed: Mastering the Tools to Thrive in a High-pressure Culture Now and in the Future with Ken Ginsburg on Tuesday and Wednesday, Nov. 17 and 18.

To help parents, Ginsburg answers two crucial questions:

• How do I give my children the unconditional love needed to thrive while holding them to the highest expectations needed for success?

• How do I protect my children while letting them learn life lessons?

This free event is open to the public and will begin at 7 p.m. Nov. 17 at the College of DuPage in the McAninch Arts Center. Please join us at 6:15 p.m. for a Wellness Expo in the foyer of the McAninch Arts Center.

Ginsburg also will give a presentation at noon Nov. 18 at the Marquardt School District 15 Administration Center, 1860 Glen Ellyn Road in Glendale Heights. He will present Fostering Resilience and Coping Skills to Meet the Challenges of Today's Teens.

CPDUs are available for education professionals.

Ginsburg will present the latest research on how to help children build competence, confidence, character, coping skills and control. This discussion will offer coping techniques for teens facing the stresses of high achievement standards, media messages, peer pressure and family tension.

GPS is generously sponsored by the Cebrin Goodman Center, Cooperative Association for Special Education (CASE), College of DuPage, DuPage Medical Group, Emmy Gaffey Foundation and Trust Company of Illinois.
