Successful Giving Campaign Provides Groceries to Senior Citizen for Lifetime
The Humanitarian Service Project, of DuPage County, along with Allured Business Media, Carol Stream, have successfully completed an endowment campaign to permanently provide nutritious groceries for a local senior citizen in need. For every dollar raised by community members for the campaign, Allured matched the amount up to $7,500, raising a total of $16,000 resulting in the permanent addition of a senior to the Senior Citizen Project (SCP). As a result of this campaign, an impoverished senior from DuPage or Kane County will receive a 100 lb. delivery of nutritious groceries every month for life, bringing the enrollment of SCP to 133 seniors served.
For more than 80 years, Allured Business Media has been leading the way as a source for global information regarding cosmetic, spa and salon, and fragrance and flavor industries. Allured has partnered with Humanitarian Service Project over the last four years, successfully adding five seniors permanently to HSP's Senior Citizen Project.
The Senior Citizen Project currently serves 132 low-income seniors living in DuPage and Kane counties with groceries on a monthly basis. Each month, they receive a variety of 15 fresh fruits and vegetables, 7 selections of frozen meat, loaves of bread, 6 bags of non-perishables, and a gift from their Secret Pal. Every three months, they also receive personal care items, such as shampoo, conditioner, and other hygiene products.
