Contemporary Christian rock musical 'JOB, the Now Testament' coming to St. Thomas the Apostle

Confronted with suffering in the world or in their own lives, many people resignedly sigh, "It's part of God's plan." But is it really the divine plan?

Explore this question with John Angotti and his friends when that energetic, effervescent, contemporary Christian rock musician brings his musical, "JOB, the Now Testament," to St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church, 1500 Brookdale Road, Naperville, at 7:30 p.m. Friday, Sept. 25.

Tickets are $15 for adults; children 12 and younger will be admitted free. Tickets may be purchased at the door, in the main office of the church from 8:30 a.m. - 4:30 p.m., Monday - Friday through Sept. 25, or after weekend Masses. St. Thomas' weekend Mass schedule is 4:30 p.m., Saturday; and 8:00, 9:30 and 11:15 a.m., and 6:00 p.m. Sunday.

"This 'rock opera' deals with the issue of suffering - why bad things happen to good people -something that is so often in our hearts and minds," commented Scott Knisley, director of liturgy and music ministries at St. Thomas.

Knisley added, "This musical is the ages-old story of Job with a 21st century twist, exploring how to spread the Good News of God's kingdom when we're faced with difficult life circumstances … told through the wonderful and inspirational music of John Angotti!"

The St. Thomas Music Makers, hailing from the various choirs who sing at church services throughout the year, will join the cast of "JOB" for this inspiring musical interpretation.

Angotti is an award-winning and internationally recognized composer and singer familiar to many in the area as a former visiting guest artist at St. Thomas the Apostle where he led popular "St. Thomas Praise/Prays" events for two years. At the time he also sang and conducted music during weekend Masses at the church once a month. Angotti continues to headline concerts locally, often with the St. Thomas Music Makers.

A full-time music missionary who travels worldwide, Angotti provides inspirational music and witness to all ages through concerts, workshops, retreats, missions, conferences and worship. His music delivers a dynamic blend of contemporary styles and meaningful lyrics: Angotti's writing style includes contemporary rock, pop and Latin rhythms while his compositions give new life to traditional pieces from chant and classical genres.
