Clare Woods Academy recently honored the various businesses and institutions throughout the Tri-County Area who employ the students of The Academy. A breakfast was held in the Wheaton campus cafeteria. Those employers include 3ELove (Batavia), DuPage Convalescent Center (Wheaton), Family Tree Resale Shop (Wheaton), PACT Humane Society (Bloomingdsale), Peoples Resource Center (Wheaton) , The Poplar Creek Library (Streamwood), Sunrise Lake Outdoor Education ( Bartlett), We Grow Dreams (West Chicago) and the Wayne Food Pantry (West Chicago) . "These employers from Batavia, Bartlett, Bloomington, Streamwood, West Chicago and Wheaton afford our student a real opportunity to develop their jobs skills. It allows them to train for real jobs in the real world." stated John Utterback, Principal and Executive Director of The Bartlett Learning Center (Clare Woods Academy-Wheaton & Cupertino Home-Warrenville). " The impact that these employment opportunities have on our students will last a lifetime" said Utterback. The mission at Clare Woods Academy is to assist children and young adults with developmental and learning disabilities to become self-sufficient and self-directed in areas of personal growth, general health, education, social and emotional well-being and functional living skills.
