Click It or Ticket Enforcement Ends

The Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT) and the West Chicago Police Department announced from May 11-25, 2015, IDOT supported law enforcement agencies statewide to remind motorists to buckle up, both day and night, during the Click It or Ticket seat belt enforcement mobilization. The West Chicago Police Department joined other state and local law enforcement agencies across Illinois in this annual effort to get more motorists to buckle up - in the front and back seats - and save lives.

During the mobilization, West Chicago police officers issued:

• 32 seat belt citations

• 4 child safety seat citation

• 2 DUI arrests

• 8 no valid driver's license citations

• 5 uninsured motorists

• 1 speeding citations

• 1 possession of Cannabis arrest

• 1 missing juvenile located

The annual Click It or Ticket mobilization may be over in West Chicago, but that is no excuse to stop using a seat belt. "Our officers are out all year long. If you or your passengers, in the front seat or back seat, are caught not wearing a seat belt, day or night, you will be cited for the safety violation," said Sergeant Spencer Kroning.
