Almost every year I am lucky to to be assigned to photograph one of the most entertaining outdoor events in the northwest suburbs - The Knight of Champions Marching Band Festival at Prospect High School. This year the Naperville North Marching Huskies, wearing silver jumpsuits, pushed spaceships they created onto the field as they preformed - which provided an unusual photograph and earned them third place in their class in the 19th annual competition at George Gattas Stadium. This photo was originally published in the Perpsective column in the print edition of the Daily Herald.

While shooting my upteenth homecoming parade in Geneva earlier this month I was drawn to what was the start of some fall color. You've got to stay on the move when photographing a parade but I stopped for a minute and slowed my shutter speed so I could make this frame. It was my first fall color picture of the season but certainly not my last. This photo was originally published in the Perpsective column in the print edition of the Daily Herald.
