ECC recognized for 100% pass rate on Certified Surgical Technologist exam

Elgin Community College received the annual merit award for the second year in a row from the National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting for achieving a 100 percent pass rate on the Certified Surgical Technologist examination.

The exam, required for employment in many health care organizations, is widely recognized as the foremost credential for surgical technologists in the health care community.

Graduates with national certification as a CST demonstrate an understanding of the basic competencies for safe patient care in and out of the operating room.

The CST is the only fully accredited examination by the National Commission for Certifying Agencies (NCCA) for surgical technologists in the nation. As such, NCCA accreditation assures that the CST examination meets stringent standards of examination development and administration.

Certification as a surgical technologist exhibits professional pride, a desire to be recognized for mastery of surgical competencies and, most importantly, an ongoing commitment to quality patient care.
