Last chance to vote for talent contest Fan Favorite

The last round of online voting for Suburban Chicago's Got Talent kicks off at midnight, giving the public one last chance to have their say in picking a Fan Favorite for the summer-long competition.

You can watch performance videos of the top 10 SCGT finalists and vote online for your favorites by visiting dailyherald.com/entertainment/talent from midnight on Wednesday, Aug. 6, through 11:59 p.m. Friday, Aug. 8. The contestant with the most votes in the combined three rounds of voting wins a Funjet Vacation for two.

The Fan Favorite will be announced at the Taste of Arlington Heights on Saturday, Aug. 9, after a final round of SCGT performances. The judges will also unveil the competition's grand prize winner, who receives a "STARter Kit."

The new prize package includes a concert performance as an opening act for a headliner at the Arcada Theatre in St. Charles, a professional concert-style photo shoot, a promotional video drawn from live SCGT footage and professional talent mentoring.

The contest is co-sponsored by the Daily Herald, the Arlington Heights Chamber of Commerce and the Prairie Center for the Arts in Schaumburg.

The two top prizes of SCGT can be split between two different acts (as in 2013 when Gabriella Francesca of Palatine won the grand prize and Andrew Johnston of Bourbonnais was the Fan Favorite), or they can be won by the same act, too, as in 2012 when both prizes were claimed by the beatboxing duo iLLest Vocals featuring Sanu John of Skokie and Shawn Kurian of Wheeling.

So vote online while you can and turn out on Saturday to the free performance at the Taste of Arlington Heights starting at 3:30 p.m. to find out who will win SCGT for 2014.
