Enjoy organ concert May 18 at Batavia church

At 3 p.m. Sunday, May 18, enjoy an organ concert performed by Jonathan Rudy in the sanctuary of Bethany Lutheran Church, 8 S. Lincoln, Batavia.

Jonathan D. Rudy, a native of Batavia, is proud to serve God through music. He has recently performed in Sacramento, Charlotte, Indianapolis and the Chicago area, including a rededication recital in 2012 of the Aeolian-Skinner organ at Bethany Lutheran Church in Batavia.

Rudy appears frequently in competitions, including as a finalist in the National Organ Playing Competition in Fort Wayne, Ind., and as second prize winner in the Regional Competition for Young Organists in 2011. He was recently invited to appear as a semifinalist in the National Young Artists Competition in Organ Performance in May of 2014.

Rudy is currently pursuing his doctorate in organ and sacred music at Indiana University. His prior degrees are from Indiana University and Valparaiso University. While at Batavia High School, he studied with Karl Bruhn. He currently serves as organist at Central Presbyterian in Terre Haute, Ind., and teaches music theory courses at Indiana University.
