Before dangerous weather caused a near four-hour delay, officials with Midtown Athletic Club in Palatine were on the field prior to the Bears vs. Baltimore Ravens game last month to present a check in the amount of $30,250 to the team’s official charity—Bears Care. The funds stem from the 11th annual Midtown 5K Run & Walk held on September 21.

To date, the Midtown 5K has raised more than $250,000 for Bears Care, the charitable beneficiary of the Chicago Bears, committed to improving the quality of life for people in the Chicagoland community, especially disadvantaged children and their families through targeted programs supporting education, youth athletics, and medical research and health awareness programs focusing on breast and ovarian cancer.

”Midtown is incredibly fortunate to have a community partner like the Chicago Bears and Bears Care,” said General Manager Tony Janca. “The 5K gets bigger and better each year thanks to the support of all of our great sponsors and from our local community. Their enthusiasm inspires adults and children to participate, and businesses to lend their resources to support an event which has become a date to circle each year on the fall calendar.”
