Carol Stream Woman's Club donates $800 to sponsor needy senior
Tuesday, November 19th the Carol Stream Woman's Club donated $800 to the Humanitarian Service Project (HSP) of DuPage County. The donation will continue the club's sponsorship of a local, impoverished senior served by HSP. The Woman's Club, currently headed by President Nancy Bagdonas, has been supporting HSP's mission through an enduring partnership dating back to 1991. Over these past twenty years, the women have committed to annually sponsoring a senior, and have additionally made generous donations of food and paper supplies for the seniors, as well as school supplies for the children.
The Carol Stream Woman's Club is a philanthropic and social club dedicated to supporting the community by donating both their time and money. A member of the General Federation of Women's Clubs, the club is in its 53rd year of serving the Carol Stream Community. In addition to supporting HSP, this year they are committed to serving the Outreach Center of Carol Stream and the Carol Stream Christmas Sharing Program. The women meet every third Tuesday of the month, at Glenbard North High School. For more information on this wonderful organization, visit their website at http://www.cswomansclub.org/.
The senior citizen sponsorship donations made by groups like the Carol Stream Woman's Club go a long way in helping HSP to alleviate the pains of poverty for 123 senior citizens currently enrolled in HSP's Senior Citizen Project. From the program, impoverished seniors of Kane and DuPage Counties receive monthly deliveries of personal care items, paper products and 100 lbs. of groceries, consisting of fresh fruits and vegetables, frozen meats, non-perishables and Pepperidge Farm bread. The seniors also receive a monthly “Secret Pal” gift, gifts at Christmas time, and other individually requested items.

About The Humanitarian Service Project
HSP's mission is to alleviate the pain and suffering that poverty creates for seniors and children living in DuPage and Kane Counties, Illinois. Last year during the Christmas Offering, 1,600 children received gifts and 150 impoverished families received three weeks of groceries, frozen meats, and fresh produce. With the Senior Citizen Project, HSP provides monthly food deliveries of 100 pounds including fresh produce, frozen meats, non-perishables, paper products and secret pal gifts to 123 low-income seniors. The Children's Birthday Project reaches the youngest underprivileged, making birthdays and Christmas truly memorable occasions for 900 children. Feed the Kids program provides 100 low-income families with groceries and fresh produce worth $1,500 retail in total for the summer. HSP conducts an annual school supplies drive, which sends supplies to the DuPage Back to School Fair in addition to furnishing schools and individual children with necessary supplies.
