Prospect takes 2nd at St. Viator Invite

St. Ignatius took top honors in the 10-team girls swimming invitational hosted by St. Viator on Saturday, with Prospect close behind in a second-place team finish.

Ignatius won with 347 and Prospect finished at 307, just ahead of Huntley (293) and St. Viator (290).

Betsy Rozow had the top individual finishes for Prospect, with a second in the 50-yard free (26.26) and third in the 100 back (1:03.05). She also had a leg on Prospect’s 200 free relay with Gracie Dix, Macy Berkely and Lily Alvey, which placed second. The Knights also got a second-place finish from Natalia Dmitruk in the 500 free.

St. Viator placed two relays (medley, 400 free) in the top three and had top-three individual efforts from Jackie Rose (200 free, 2nd; 100 breast, 3rd) and Nina Byskosh (50 free, 3rd).

Elk Grove, which finished sixth, saw senior Simona Kurta win the 100 fly (1:02.68) and take second in the 200 IM (2:21.92).

Ÿ Sandburg won the six-team girls swimming invitational hosted by Niles West on Saturday with 372 points.

Schaumburg placed fifth (140) and Buffalo Grove (121) was sixth.

Top-three finishes from area competitors came from BG’s Sarah Morosan (second in 100 fly, third in 50 free) and Schaumburg’s Sydney Skibinski (third in 100 breast) and Missy Huber (third in diving).

Ÿ Leyden had the top finish in the relay meet it hosted Saturday. The Eagles had 247 points; Hoffman Estates scored 200.5 and placed fourth.
