Chicago Area Mensa sets October as “Mind Challenge Month”

Chicago Area Mensa presents Mind Challenge Month during the month of October Mensa's official proctored admissions exam is being offered for $22 (a discount of $18 from the standard rate of $40) to those who take the Mensa Home Test, the organization's optional pre-admissions test, online in August or September, and present their receipt. The Mensa Home Test allows individuals aged 14 and up to flex their mental muscles and discover whether they are a potential Mensa member. Mensa is offering the Home Test online for $1 from Aug. 19 through Sept. 15. (The standard rate for the Mensa Home Test is $18).

The Mensa Home Test is a strong indicator of how well an individual will score on the official admissions test, but does not qualify test takers for membership. The official proctored admissions exam takes approximately two hours and includes two tests featuring questions involving logic and deductive reasoning. Those scoring at or above the 98th percentile on either of the two tests are invited to join Mensa. A range of standardized testing results are also accepted for Mensa admission including, college preparatory tests and IQ tests such as the Cognitive Abilities Test and the Stanford Binet. Mensa welcomes people from every walk of life whose IQ is in the top 2% of the general population. Members range in age from 3 to 103 years. Currently there are approximately 1,800 members in the Chicago area, making it the fourth largest chapter in the U.S. Chicago Area Mensa hosts up to seven events each week in the Chicagoland area. Friendships and fun are the top benefits of Mensa membership. Mensa members also enjoy discounts on a range of products and services, invitations to professional networking events and international travel opportunities. Scholarship funds for Mensa activities are available to qualifying members.
