Meadows, Elk Grove tied for MSL East lead
Eight of host Rolling Meadows’ 10 hits went for extra bases as the Mustangs handled Hersey 14-4 in 5 innings Thursday in Mid-Suburban East baseball.
Matt Dennis and Mike Dolan homered, and Dennis, Mickey Wazorick, Dan Hendrickson, Erik Schurtz, John Burkiewicz and Dan Hendricks each had doubles for Rolling Meadows (7-5-1, 5-0).
Jack Milas started for the Mustangs, and Schurtz provided 2 innings of scoreless relief.
David Milligan, C.J. Reichel and Eric Labahn each drove in a run for Hersey (4-9, 2-2).
Elk Grove 3, Buffalo Grove 1: David Camacho tossed a complete game 5-hitter with 8 strikeouts to help the host Grens remain in a first-place tie with Rolling Meadows in the MSL East.
Luc DiMaso doubled, scored twice and had 3 hits for Elk Grove, which broke a 1-1 tie by scoring 2 runs in the fifth inning. Michael Anciulis, Adam O’Malley and Mikey Maize had RBI for the Grens (12-4, 5-0).
Nick Carpinelli doubled and had 2 of the 5 hits for Buffalo Grove (5-7, 3-2).
Barrington 9, Fremd 5: The host Broncos got ahead early with a 3-run first and a 4-run second, then stayed there to main a perfect showing so far against Mid-Suburban West foes.
Junior Wyatt Trautwein got the victory for Barrington (10-7, 5-0).
Marcus Middlebrook and Sam Beutler homered for Fremd (7-6, 1-2).
Christian Liberty 4, Lake Forest Academy 3: Juan Pagan earned a victory and David Colbert got the save as the Chargers (7-5, 4-1) used a 2-run rally in the bottom of the sixth inning to net a Northeastern Athletic Conference victory.
Palatine 6, Prospect 5: The visiting Knights rallied for 5 runs in the fifth inning, but the Pirates went back ahead with a single run in the bottom of the sixth to claim an MSL crossover victory.
Junior Nolan Gavin went the distance for Palatine (7-7-1), allowing 8 hits.
Jarrod Juskiewicz and Bill Stewart drove in 2 runs apiece for the Pirates, and Greg Grana and Matt Saltess doubled.
A.J. Compton doubled, and Sean Dela Cruz drove in 2 runs for Prospect (1-8).
York 8, Leyden 1: The Dukes had 10 hits and took advantage of 5 Eagles errors to claim a West Suburban crossover victory at Leyden (2-11).
Schaumburg 6, Conant 4: Michael Fan doubled and tripled to lead an 11-hit outburst from visiting Schaumburg, which picked up its first Mid-Suburban West victory.
Alec Wagner and Ryan Woloszyk also doubled for the Saxons (4-4, 1-2), and Fan and Josh Rahn had 2 RBI each to make a winner of Brad Schwind (3-0).
Matt Fauth homered and drove in 2 runs for Conant (0-9, 0-3).
Carmel 2, St. Viator 0: The host Lions held Carmel to 5 hits but came up short in East Suburban Catholic Conference play.
Matt Ryan doubled and earned the victory for Carmel.
Senior Patrick Martin took the loss for St. Viator (9-8, 3-3).
