Library offers free series of writing workshops
Two workshops remain in the “Inside Writing and Publishing” series offered by the Schaumburg Township District Library, 130 S. Roselle Road, Schaumburg. Registration is required for these free workshops. Register by calling (847) 923-3347.
“The Stories inside You” will be held from 7-9 p.m., Tuesday, April 30, in the library’s Adult Classroom, led by Jerilyn Willins, author and performance development coach. In this hands-on workshop, writers will create short scenes and receive feedback. Based on exercises from the prestigious Iowa Writer’s Festival, these exercises stimulate the writer’s creativity and provide sustainable techniques to avoid writer’s block.
“Finding and Working with a Literary Agent” is scheduled for 7 p.m., Thursday, May 9, in the Rasmussen North Room. Aspiring writers who wonder if they need an agent, or seek advice on how to acquire one, will benefit from this workshop lead by Danielle Egan-Miller, one of Chicago’s top literary agents and president of Browne & Miller Literary Associates. She will present an overview of what literary agents do and what they look for in a prospective client. Additionally, she will help participants determine whether they need an agent and, if so, how to find, approach and query one.
