Elmhurst chorus raises funds to compete at International competition

The Choral-Aires Chorus invites community members to gather at a hometown grill for a good cause. On Saturday, November 10, from 12 – 4 p.m., the Chorus hosts “Sand, Surf and Song” Fundraiser Event at the Silverado at Jack's Silverado Grill (447 Spring Road, Elmhurst) to raise funds for the Chorus' expenses to represent the Lake Michigan Region 3 Sweet Adelines choruses at International competition in Honolulu, Hawaii next year.

Cost for the “Sand, Surf and Song” Fundraiser Event at the Silverado is $20 per person, which includes entry, food, and entertainment by the Chorus. The event also includes a silent auction and a 50/50 raffle. Silent auction items include sports memorabilia and much more. Seating is limited, so the Chorus is offering three separate seating times: 12, 1:30, and 3 p.m.

“We are beyond excited to host this event for a number of reasons,” says Andrea Sonnenberg, chair of the chorus' ways and means committee. “We love any excuse to connect with members of our home community, whether it's through performances, fundraisers, or other community events. We also are excited to offer an event that will be fun for all involved, while raising money to help offset the high cost of travel to competition. We hope to see every one of our members on that stage in this once-in-a-lifetime venue!”

For more information about the event, or to order tickets, contact Alex Bennett at 815-455-7005 or abennett@hcpsil.com.

More than 100 women from Illinois, Indiana and Wisconsin sing tight harmonies a cappella (without instrumentation) with the Choral-Aires Chorus, a Sweet Adelines International medaling chorus, and the 2012 Lake Michigan Region 3 Champion. This program is partially supported by a grant from the Illinois Arts Council, a state agency. More information about the Chorus can be found at their website, http://choral-aires.com.
