Traffic Safety Campaign Continues in West Chicago

The West Chicago Police Department announced that Campaign #4 of the Illinois Department of Transportation funded grant was successful in educating the motoring public on child restraint, seatbelt, speeding, and alcohol related violations. The Campaign ran from May 11 - 28, 2012 and resulted in 182 citations being issued; 24 for seatbelt and child restraint violations, and 3 violations for driving under the influence.

This grant provides sworn police officers funding for additional hours dedicated to traffic enforcement for child restraint, seatbelt, speeding, and alcohol related violations.

Campaign # 5 will begin on August 17, 2012 and run through September 3, 2012. A continuing effort will be made citywide to make roadways safer by enforcing these violations and educating the public.
