‘Les Miserables School Edition’ comes to Crystal Lake

Submitted by Spotlight Youth Theater

Students, ages 14-18, of Spotlight Youth Theater, present “Les Miserables School Edition,” which is based on the original, Tony Award-winning musical, “Les Miserables.” “Les Miserables” is a tale about the struggles of 19th-century France. The story recounts the recent release of inmate Jean Valjean, who was imprisoned for stealing a loaf of bread. Jean Valjean struggles for redemption and freedom from his past and from the relentless Inspector Javier. “Les Miserables School Edition” is emotionally charged with the original music that made the show so popular, including “I Dreamed a Dream,” “One Day More,” “On My Own” and many more.

The performances will be presented at 7 p.m. Friday, July 27 and Saturday, July 28, and 2 p.m. Sunday, July 29 at Raue Center for the Arts, 26 N. Williams St., Crystal Lake.

Tickets are $12 to $16 presale; plus $2 at the door. Group, child and senior discounts available. All proceeds will benefit the Spot Light on Kids/Christian Stillwell fund and The June Naponelli Scholarship, benefiting students with an interest in the arts and honoring two individuals who lived extraordinary lives.
