Dining on call for patients at Advocate Good Shepherd

Barrington, IL – Advocate Good Shepherd Hospital is making it more convenient for patients to get the food they want, when they want it. The new Dining on Call program is the room service concept…similar to what hotels have been offering for years. Patients are able to call designated number after reviewing a restaurant style menu and receive their meal within 45 minutes.

“Good Shepherd Hospital continues to enhance the exceptional care it provides by offering improvements to the overall food quality and service,” said Keith Sas, Director of Food Nutrition Services. “We want to better the patient's experience with hot, fast, fresh food at their convenience.”

Dining on Call serves patients from 6:30 am until 7:00 pm, with a menu distributed in every room. Using the menu, family members may place orders for their loved ones in the hospital from home.

The menu consists of a variety of foods from breakfast specialties, to a gourmet deli, to a selection of desserts. A majority of the menu's items are designated with a heart icon next to a meal representing heart healthy dishes. Not to mention, there are heart healthy alternatives available with an added listing of the carbohydrate servings in each dish. The program gives patients the freedom to choose what and when to eat, eliminating a traditional meal time.
