Four Corners Community Church hosts 5K race

Four Corners Community Church of Darien, will host its first "Run for Rwanda" 5K Race and 2-mile Family Fun Walk, on Saturday, June 16, at 8 a.m. at McCollum Park in Downers Grove.

Recently, Greg Boltz of Downers Grove and a member of the church, made a courageous step, he announced to his church family that he needed to lose weight and live a healthier life. Greg was not only thinking of himself, but by taking pledges from friends and family for each pound he loses, he hopes to benefit street children living in Rwanda. Greg plans to participate in the “Run for Rwanda.”

Greg has received a lot of encouragement from his friends and family. Greg currently has pledges in excess of $100 for each pound he loses between now and the day of the race.

Some of Greg's sponsors have agreed to contribute additional funds next year, if he is able to maintain his weight loss. To learn more about Greg's endeavor, go to http://www.fourcornerscommunity.org/#/outreach/lbs-for-pledges-challenge.

All of the proceeds from the race and Greg's “Pounds for Pledges” Campaign will go directly toward building a much needed boy's dormitory for the street children living in Kayonza, Rwanda via Africa New Life Ministries.

Africa New Life Ministries has received a generous gift of $100,000 to start the project. Four Corners Community Church and its members hope to raise the remaining $40,000 to complete the project.

Come out and join in the race or cheer Greg on.
