The Annual Bob Leonard Run/Walk has become an increasingly popular event within St. Charles: combing a 5K race and a more casual walking event following the Fox River through downtown St. Charles, IL. This event is the primary fund raising activity for the River Corridor Foundation.
New for 2012, boys and girls ages 4-11 can participate in the Colonial Café Kids' Turtle Hurdle Obstacle Course. This event starts at 10:30 a.m. and will challenge kids with 5 different obstacles. Each participant will have an opportunity to test run the course before a timed trial run. All kids will receive a cool t-shirt, participation ribbon and goody bag full of souvenirs.
The River Corridor Foundation is a 501(C) organization dedicated to creating a lively river front environment in St. Charles. The foundations' goal is to provide the inspiration and initial financial leadership for the execution of the River Corridor Master Plan as developed in conjunction with the St. Charles Park District, the City of St. Charles and the Downtown St. Charles Partnership. Recent projects include providing the initial funding for the engineering effort to create the Bob Leonard Walkway along the west bank of the Fox River, just south of Illinois Street.
