Cary-Grove 2, Dundee-Crown 1: Ryan Kaveney ran his record to 8-1 for the season with 5 strikeouts and 7 hits allowed as Cary-Grove (20-9, 13-3) won in the Fox Valley Conference Valley Division. Zack Girard was 2-for-4 with a double and Jake Romano had a triple for the Chargers (7-17-1, 4-12). Tyler Gross allowed 6 hits and struck out 4 in taking the loss for D-C.
CL South 10, Jacobs 5: Jake Bigos was 3-for-4 with 2 doubles and an RBI and Dom Winiecki went 2-for-3 as Crystal Lake South pounded out 15 hits in this FVC Valley win. Jordan Van Dyck (3-for-4, 3B, RBI), Max Meitzler (grand slam HR), Nick Severino (HR) and Will Ahsmann (2B) also contributed for the Gators (24-8, 15-2). Tyler Hall (6-1) picked up the win, allowing 7 hits with 4 strikeouts. Kenny Finn was 2-for-4, Ryan Ulmer was 2-for-3 with a home run and 2 RBI, Mark Self had a home run and 2 RBI and Connor Conzelman had a double for Jacobs. Max Rider took the loss.
Hampshire 12, Woodstock North 0: Brandon Wescher tossed a 2-hitter with 7 strikeouts and 1 walk as Hampshire (11-15-1, 5-8) rolled to an easy FVC Fox win. Sean O’Shea (2-for-4, 3B), Justin Thinger (2B) and Eddie Mazur (3-for-3) led the Whip-Purs’ offense.
Huntley 8, Woodstock 0: Craig Klein (4-4) fired a 2-hitter with 8 strikeouts and 2 walks to lead Huntley (17-14) to an FVC crossover win. Colin Lyman (2-for-3, 3B), Bryce Only grand slam HR), Nick Corpolondo (RBI) and Tyler Mindak (RBI) led the Huntley offense.

Judson stays alive: Craig Lipp struck out a career high 12 batters as Judson defeated Dakota State 9-4 to stave off elimination at the NAIA Opening Round tournament in Hutchinson, Kan. Lipp, Nick Norris and Brian Brauer each had 2 hits in the win. Norris had 2 doubles and Brauer one. Billy Wright, Josh Raymond, Tony Rallo, Lipp and Brauer each drove in runs. Judson (47-13) played Tabor College in another elimination game late Friday night.
