Hurd homer a highlight for Warren

Her sister starred for Warren’s softball team.

On Tuesday, Jodie Hurd shined for the Blue Devils. Others did too for Warren in its 22-7 win over host Mundelein in a North Suburban Lake Division slugfest.

Hurd, a sophomore whose sister Kayla was a four-year varsity player, hit her first varsity home run and also doubled twice, driving in 4 runs. Hurd’s homer came with a runner on base.

Lisiann Rodriguez (4-for-5, 3 runs) added a solo home run for Warren (22-4-1, 8-1), and Sam Belletini (4-for-6, 4 runs, 3 RBI) jacked a 2-run shot. The Blue Devils also got big offensive games from Jill Fox (4-for-6, double, 2 runs), Megan Sowa (3-for-5, 2 RBI, 2 runs) and Anna Balch (3-for-5, RBI, 3 runs).

Jana Wagner allowed 4 earned runs in earning the win.

Carmel 9, Stevenson 5: The host Corsairs got 2-run homers from Kathleen Felicelli and Jenny Behan and a solo shot from Sally Snarski in the nonconference game.

Kelley Dodge went 2-for-2 with 2 walks and 3 runs scored for Carmel. Behan had 3 RBI, while Erika Schoenfeld earned the complete-game win.

Lauren Boyle and Lexi Yonkovic had doubles for Stevenson (7-19).

Grayslake Central 13, Woodstock 0: Tayler Janda pitched a 2-hit shutout for the visiting Rams in the Fox Valley Fox Division game.

Kati Brew led the offense for Grayslake Central (10-14, 5-3), going 3-for-4 with 2 doubles, while Claire Brennan was 3-for-4 with 2 RBI.

Grayslake North 5, Johnsburg 0: Kristina Gandy allowed just 2 hits and struck out 13 for the host Knights in their Fox Valley Fox Division game.

Jordyn Bowen doubled, tripled and drove in a run for Grayslake North, and Courtney Peterson also had 2 hits and an RBI. The Knights also got a hit and an RBI each from Kelsey Borders, Nikki Livengood and Kaley Buchman.

Lake Zurich 5, Libertyville 2: Carlee Parsons doubled twice and finished 3-for-3 with an RBI for the host Bears in the North Suburban Lake contest.

Mallory Parsons was 2-for-3 with a double and a run for Lake Zurich (17-8, 7-2). Shannon McPeek threw a complete game for the Bears, allowing just 1 earned run while striking out two, walking two and scattering 5 hits.

Vernon Hills 16, North Chicago 0: Jordyn Comitor pitched a five-inning no-hitter with 8 strikeouts, as the Cougars improved to 16-8 and 6-1 in the North Suburban Prairie.

Vernon Hills had 20 hits.

Wauconda 11, Round Lake 0: Alex Kinnamon hit a 3-run home run, and sophomore Angie Exline pitched the five-inning shutout in the North Suburban Prairie game.
