Huntley’s Doherty tosses no-hitter

Huntley’s Bryan Doherty struck out 12 and walked 2 and tossed a 7-inning no-hitter Friday as the Red Raiders blanked Dundee-Crown 5-0 in Fox Valley Conference Valley Division baseball action in Carpentersville.

Huntley (12-11, 5-6) scored all 5 of its runs in the top of the seventh inning. Colin Lyman (2-for-4, 2B), Jordan Chuipek (3-for-3) and Nick Carpolondo (RBI) led the Huntley offense.

Nick Lodi (2-4 suffered the loss for the Chargers (3-8 FVC Valley).

Grayslake North 3, Hampshire 2: Hampshire managed just 4 hits in this FVC Fox loss. Kyle Carbone took the loss for the Whip-Purs (7-13, 1-7).

CL South 3, McHenry 0: The Gators’ stellar pitching streak continued as Tyler Hall (4-4) threw a 2-hitter with 6 strikeouts and 1 walk in this FVC Valley win. Jordan Van Dyck (3-for-4, 2 RBI), Jake Byron (2-for-3) and Nick Severino (2B) led the offense for Crystal Lake South (17-7, 9-2).

St. Francis 8, St. Edward 7: Jacob Koehring and Tighe Koehring each had doubles for the Green Wave in this Suburban Christian loss. Luke Duffy was the losing pitcher.

College baseball

ECC 7, Kankakee 4: Art Sutter and winning pitcher Ryan Burke combined on the mound and ECC pounded out 10 hit as the Spartans notched a nonconference win over perennial JUCO power Kankakee. David Mutter’s 2-run double in the top of the eighth inning put the Spartans (24-15) ahead for good. Justin Kalusa (3-for-5, 2B, 3B, 2 RBI) and Matt Kaiser (2-for-4, RBI) also contributed to the offense for ECC.
