Girls soccer/Fox Valley roundup
The Huntley girls soccer team fell to state power Rockford Boylan 3-0 in Saturday morning’s semifinals, then bounced back to beat Libertyville 4-0 in the third-place game of the Huntley Invitational.
Beth Parks, Summer Campbell, Delaney Loprieno and Crystal Hoffman scored goals for the Red Raiders (3-2) against Libertyville and Jessica Galason and Kelli Rubino shared time in the net, with neither being called on to make a save as Huntley outshot the Wildcats 25-3.
In the loss to Boylan, Galason made 5 saves and Rubino 8.
Larkin splits: Larkin lost its first game of the day to Marian Central 1-0 before coming back to beat Marengo 1-0 at the Huntley Invite. Quixmia Washington scored off an assist from Amanda Lake to lead the Royals against Marengo. Diana Hernandez notched the shutout with 6 saves. She made 12 saves for the Royals (1-6) in the loss to Marian.
Jacobs 3, Andrew 0: Cassidy Sherman scored 2 goals and Margaret Rivera added a single knock as Jacobs shut down Andrew in nonconference play. Alyssa Koeppler had 3 saves in goal for the Golden Eagles. Catie Sherman and Jessica Tennant added assists.
Elk Grove 2, Cary-Grove 0: Krystal Felderman had 3 saves for Cary-Grove (3-4) in this nonconference loss.
Leyden 2, Elgin 1: Idalys Quintano celebrated her birthday by scoring Elgin’s lone goal in this nonconference loss. Marisella Mascote had 20 saves in the net for the Maroons (0-5).
