Allan Environmental Services Helps Needy Children and Seniors in DuPage County

Allan Environmental Services of Fox River Grove recently donated $508 to Humanitarian Service Project's (HSP) initiatives to serve the needy in DuPage County because the company believes in facilitating care for people in the community. The funds will enable support of a needy senior citizen with monthly groceries, as well as assist several children in the Children's Birthday Project. Allan Environmental Service's founders John and Mary Dee Baker have been a contributor to HSP's programs since 1993.

Allan Environmental Services specializes in creating an ideal indoor environment through improvements for air quality, humidity, ventilation, and more. They service the northern Illinois and southern Wisconsin areas. When asked about the recent donation to HSP, Mary Dee Baker of Allan Environmental Services stated, “It's nice to have a local charity that you know where the money is going and that keeps you informed.”

The 120 impoverished seniors in HSP's Senior Citizen Project receive monthly deliveries of 90 lbs. of groceries that include a variety of fresh fruits and vegetables, frozen meats, non-perishable foods, personal care items and paper products. The Children's Birthday Project provides needy children ages 3-11 with a 20-25 lb. box containing books, toys, games, and a Party-in-a-Box filled with all the items necessary to have a birthday party. In addition, children in the program receive school supplies, Christmas gifts, and are eligible for the Feed the Kids program which provides 750 pounds of food for needy families during the summer months of June, July, and August.

About The Humanitarian Service Project:

HSP's mission is to alleviate the pain and suffering that poverty creates in seniors and children living in DuPage and Kane counties, Illinois. Last year during the Christmas Offering Project, 1,600 children received gifts and 100 impoverished families received three weeks of groceries, frozen meats, and fresh produce. With the Senior Citizen Project, HSP provides a monthly food delivery and secret pal gifts to 120 low-income seniors. The Children's Birthday Project reaches the youngest underprivileged, making birthdays and Christmas truly memorable occasions for 700 children. Feed the Kids provides 100 low-income families with groceries and fresh produce during the summer months. HSP conducts an annual school supplies drive that benefited a total of 5,200 children by giving supplies to the DuPage Back to School Fair and directly to schools and individual children.
