Grayslake North rolls past Woodstock
Grayslake North’s girls basketball team took an early lead against visiting Woodstock and never looked back, winning the Fox Valley Fox Division game 53-30 Saturday.
The Knights were led by Kendall Detweiler, who scored 20 points, including five 3-pointers.
Grayslake North (15-7, 6-3) played “smothering defense” early to set the tone, coach Jim Sarver said, and had 22 steals for the game.
Katie McGrath added 9 points for the Knights, while Jordyn Bowen and Joanna Guhl had 8 each.
Grayslake Central 46, Crystal Lake Central 33: Morgan Dahlstrom scored 14 points, and Claire Brennan added 11 for the Rams, who continue to cruise in the Fox Valley Fox.
Grayslake Central’s eighth win in nine games improved its record to 18-4 overall and 10-0 in the FVC Fox.
Grant 45, Lake Forest Academy 37: Morgan Jahnke poured in a game-high 17 points, including a 3-pointer, as the Bulldogs rebounded from their North Suburban Prairie loss to Vernon Hills on Friday night to win the nonconference road game.
Grant (6-16) also got 10 points from sophomore McKenzie Burton, who hit a couple of 3s. The Bulldogs led 15-8 after one quarter, were up 21-18 at halftime and took a 35-27 advantage into the fourth.
Carmel 64, North Chicago 43: The Corsairs improved their record to14-10 with the nonconference win.
Kathleen Felicelli scored 12 points to lead the way. Sarah McHugh added 9.
