Lake Park's Hahn in select company
Lake Park senior Alexis Hahn is one of 10 Illinois high school basketball players among the 600 nominees for this year's McDonald's All-American Games in Chicago.
Hahn, who is closing in on 1,000 career points, joins fellow Illinois girls nominees Morgan Tuck (Bolingbrook), Jewell Loyd (Niles West), Ashley Santos (Geneva), Alexis Lloyd (Whitney Young), Janee Thompson (Whitney Young), Maggie Lyon (New Trier), Dominique Brooks (T.F. North) and Kiela Gamer (Rich South). Simeon's Steve Taylor is the lone boys nominee.
Twenty-four boys and 24 girls will be selected Feb. 9 to play in the games, which will be held March 28 at the United Center.
Montini 65, Immaculate Conception 22:
Kateri Stone tossed in 14 points and Nikia Edom 13, the two combining to hit five 3-pointers, for the No. 6 Broncos (20-5) in Lombard. Malayna Johnson added 10 points for Montini. Kellyanne Remy scored 8 points for IC (14-8).
Neuqua Valley 49, East Aurora 30:
Kristen Moore powered in 11 points and Nikki Lazar 10, pacing the No. 11 Wildcats (17-5, 5-4 Upstate Eight Valley) in Naperville. Neuqua trailed 9-7 after a quarter, then outscored the Tomcats 32-8 over the next two periods.
WW South 64, Glenbard East 22:
Meghan Waldron poured in 17 points, and the No. 7 Tigers rolled to remain a game ahead of Naperville Central in the DuPage Valley Conference race heading into Thursday's showdown in Naperville. Maggie Dansdill and Allie Zappia added 8 points apiece for WW South (20-2, 9-0 DVC).
West Aurora 54, West Chicago 43:
Laura Panicali scored 20 points for the host Wildcats (12-9, 4-5 DVC).
Aurora Central 62, Wheaton Academy 48:
Sarah Drury had 11 points and 11 rebounds and Ally Witt 12 points for the Warriors in the Suburban Christian Conference crossover game. Jackie Cardona paced Aurora Central with 22 points.
