Bartlett wins twice at Moline
Bartlett's boys basketball team is having itself quite the Martin Luther King weekend.
After a scintillating 58-55 overtime win at Lake Park Friday night, the Hawks got on an early bus and headed to Moline Saturday morning to take part in the Moline MLK Shootout.
And it was a good day Saturday for coach Jim Wolfsmith's crew as well.
Matt Chaltin scored 22 points in the morning game as the Hawks (10-8) rolled over Chicago Noble Prep 63-39. After some food and rest, Bartlett came back in the afternoon and dumped Machesney Park Harlem 60-53 behind 20 points from Marcus Aluquin.
John Moss added 10 points and Mitch Reid had 8 in the win over Noble, while Chaltin had 13 and Moss 8 against Harlem.
Bartlett plays downstate Washington and Rochelle Monday in the final round of the shootout.
DeKalb 56, Jacobs 47: Brad Cleveland had 11 points while Nick Ledinsky and Ryan Ross had 10 each for the Golden Eagles in this loss at the Hononegah shootout.
Neuqua Valley 60, Jacobs 43: Will Schwerdtmann had 16 points for Jacobs (3-12) fell for the second time at Hononegah.
St. Edward 53, Danville Schlarman 35: Antonio Domel had 13 points and Eddie O'Halloran added 11 as the Green Wave (8-10) won at the Bloomington Central Catholic shootout. Adrian Ponce added 10 points for St. Edward, which won its third straight.
