In the End, Meadows' streak hits 14

Rolling Meadows' girls basketball team already has one tourney championship this season, having won the Mundelein title a little more than three weeks ago.

Now the Mustangs are trying for another.

They improved to 2-0 on Monday night in the Season's End Tournament in Bensensville.

Rolling Meadows (16-3) extended the area's longest winning streak to 14 with a 53-26 victory over Fenton.

Coach Todd Hatfield watched his Mustangs defense hold the hold the Bison to 2 points in the second quarter and 3 in the fourth.

Offensively, sophomore Jackie Kemph led the Mustangs with a game-high 17 points while Alexis Glasgow added 13. Both had a 3-pointer, as did sophomore teammate Jenny Vliet.

Senior Emma Simonson added 6 points for Meadows, which hosts Prospect in a Mid-Suburban League East showdown for first place on Friday night.

Fremd 65, Deerfield 32: Mid-Suburban West leader Fremd improved to 15-3 as senior Jessi Wiedemann (17 points), sophomore Ashley McConnell (17 points) and freshman Haley Gorecki (16) led the way.

McConnell hit 3 3-pointers while Wiedemann had 2 and Gorecki 1 in the nonconference game in Palatine.

Wheaton North 63, Hoffman Estates 37: Hoffman Estates (7-11) was led by junior Destinee Young's 21 points in the nonconference game. Sara Burns and Selena Martinez each had 3-pointers for the host Hawks.

Christian Life 37, Christian Liberty 25: Freshman Jess Moriarty (8 points), sophomore Megan Sullivan (7) and sophomore Vivian Barclay (6) were top scorers for the host Chargers (11-6, 3-2) in the Northeastern Athletic Conference game.
