This time, Lakes finishes off Grant

Lakes' boys basketball team earned a little payback.

The Eagles outscored visiting Grant 24-8 in the third quarter to break open a close game and pull out a 63-37 win in North Suburban Prairie Division action Saturday night.

Lakes had lost to Grant in the championship game of Grant's recent holiday tournament, blowing a 22-point second-half lead.

Tanner Blain led Lakes (10-6, 4-1) with 17 points, and Justin Bergeron added 10 for the Eagles, who had players score.

Grant (9-6, 2-3) was led by Ilya Kadushin with 13 points.

Grayslake North 53, Woodstock North 43: The visiting Knights had three players score in double figures in their Fox Valley Fox Division opener.

AJ Fish led Grayslake North (8-5) with 15 points. Danny Mateling and Mark Hall added 13 and 11, respectively, as the Knights won their third in a row to match their season-best winning streak. They led 11-7 after one quarter, 26-14 at halftime and 36-25 after three.

Woodstock North's Sam Schweder led all scorers with 20 points, including four 3-pointers.
