Girls basketball/Fox Valley roundup

Amy Becker scored 17 points and Jacobs broke open a close game in the second half to come away with a 52-46 girls basketball win over Wheeling Thursday night in nonconference play, the Golden Eagles’ first win of the season.

Lauren Grady added 15 points and Jennifer Barnec had 12 for Jacobs (1-9). The game was tied 24-24 at halftime.

IMSA 60, Elgin 52: The Maroons (0-9) were on the verge of snapping what is now a 37-game losing streak but they fell short in overtime in nonconference action at IMSA (5-5). Maggie Poweras had 19 points to lead Elgin, while Alex Bell added 13 and Briana Hamilton 12.

Westminster 39, Luther North 31: McKaila Hays had 11 points to lead the Warriors (6-3, 2-1) to a win in the Northeast Athletic Conference. Kinsley Donahue added 8 points for Westminster Christian.
