Huntley hangs on at Carmel
Huntley led Carmel by 8 points heading to the fourth quarter and held on for a 50-42 nonconference victory in Mundelein on Friday, thanks in part to the accurate free-throw shooting of junior guard Ryan Craig.
Craig scored 11 of his 13 points in the fourth quarter, when he sank 9 of 11 free throws. Senior guard Troy Miller splashed four 3-pointers and finished with a team-high 14 points for Huntley (5-0).
Carmel 6-foot-7 senior Brandon Motzel led all scorers with 16 points.
Westminster Christian 45, Mooseheart 33: The Warriors started fast and never looked back as they avenged a 10-point defeat to the Ramblers six days earlier. Will Woodhouse connected on three 3-pointers on his way to a 15-point night. Sam Carani added 8 points for Westminster Christian (3-3, 1-0) in the Northeast Athletic Conference opener.
