South Elgin survives Hampshire comeback

South Elgin opened up a 33-20 halftime lead then hung on to down Hampshire 50-45 Friday night in the Dundee-Crown girls basketball Thanksgiving tournament.

Becca Smith led the Storm (2-0) with 13 points while Laura McIntosh had 11.

Grace Jakubowski and Jenny Dumoulin each had 12 points for Hampshire (0-2), while Tiffany Bentley added 10 and Michelle Dumoulin 9.

Westminster Christian 42, Plano 39: Porsche Griggs had 9 points, 9 rebounds, 8 steals and 2 blocks to lead the Warriors (2-2) to a win at the Somonauk tournament. Mckaila Hays added 9 points while Elizabeth Meschewski had 6 points and 4 steals.

Palatine 37, Dundee-Crown 31: Ali Sanders had 15 points and Diamond Williams scored 9 but the Chargers (0-2) came up short at their own tournament.
