Hoffman Estates regional
Where: Busse Woods
When: 10 a.m. Saturday
What to watch: Prospect won the Mid-Suburban League title last weekend, and the Knights would like to continue their momentum on Saturday. Junior Brooke Wolfe broke away in the final mile to secure her second consecutive individual title and will lead the Knights, with senior Laura Maibuecher and junior Lauren Poplawksi adding support. Seniors Haley Goers and Haley Worman power the Hoffman Estates team that finished third in the MSL. It should be a close battle between the Knights and Hawks. Junior Kelly Breen ran to an impressive fourth-place finish at the MSL meet and will power a solid Fremd team. Junior Hannah Coombs and senior Kelsey Steenstrup give Schaumburg a powerful duo. Junior Hanna Winter and sophomore Meghan Carroll look impressive for St. Viator. Senior Nora Gawlik will lead Hersey.
Palatine regional
Where: Deer Grove East
When: 10 a.m. Saturday
What to watch: Junior Tess Wasowicz and sophomore Jessica Lincoln power host Palatine. The Pirates also received a big lift from sophomore Cassidy McPherson, who finished seventh in the MSL. The Pirates finished second in the MSL, but are searching for a fifth runner to solidify their attack. Barrington finished fourth in the MSL. Junior Becca Batliner has been coming on strong the past few weeks and will be a difference maker the post season. Lake Zurich is also in the field, the Bears won the North Suburban Conference title last weekend.
Other regionals
Elk Grove and Maine West will be competing at the Loyola Regional, while Leyden will be at the St. Ignatius Regional.
