Tenth Dems honor retiring state Sen. Susan Garrett

The Tenth Dems celebrated public service at their annual awards dinner Sept. 18, attended by 300 people at Highland Park Country Club.

At the dinner, retiring state Sen. Susan Garrett was honored with the Ab Mikva Political Courage Award.

The dinner was keynoted by U.S. Sen. Amy Klobuchar of Minnesota, who was included by The New York Times in its list of 17 women most likely to become the first female President of the United States.

Illinois Sen. Dick Durbin introduced Klobuchar and remarked on her statewide popularity and hard-won reputation.
