Recycling Avenue on a Roll (& Walk) at Lake Arlington

Recycling Avenue, a program of Avenues to Independence, held their fourth annual Walk-n-Roll at Lake Arlington on September 17.

Fifty supporters walked (or rolled) the two mile trek around the lake and helped raise more than $3,000.

All proceeds benefit adults with developmental, intellectual, and physical disabilities.

Located in Wheeling, Recycling Avenue is a free service that recycles small electronic items. Recycling bins are located in local area municipalities and businesses including Arlington Heights, Buffalo Grove, Schaumburg, Hoffman Estates, Mt. Prospect, and Park Ridge.

The program began in 2007 by two physically challenged young adults who wanted to work and make a difference in our environment.

Avenues to Independence is a nonprofit agency that has provided a variety of employment and residential opportunities for adults with developmental disabilities in the metropolitan Chicago area since 1953.

The administrative office is located at 515 Busse Highway in Park Ridge.
