Crystal Lake Toastmasters to compete in Lake in the Hills

Two of Crystal Lake Toastmasters’ finest are headed to Lake in the Hills for the Area Level contest after winning the recent Humorous Speech and Evaluation Speech Contests held by the club.

Joan Walton of Huntley won the Humorous Speech Contest where contestants prepare a cohesive 5-7 minute speech that is both engaging and entertaining. Eric Antens of Cary won the Evaluation component of the contest where contestants listen to a speech given by a member from another Toastmaster club, and then evaluate their performance in a 2-3 minute report.

Joan and Eric will join representatives from other Toastmasters clubs to compete in the Area 1 contest, beginning at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 28 at the Lake in the Hills village hall.

Crystal Lake Toastmasters Club is part of Toastmasters International, a nonprofit, educational organization dedicated to providing opportunities, tools and support to improve your communication and leadership skills.

The club meets at Advocate Good Shepherd Outpatient Center at 525 E. Congress Parkway in Crystal Lake on the first, third, and fifth Saturdays of the month from 8:30 to 10:30 a.m.
