WW South 4, Wheaton North 1:Jason Schuman pitched a no-hitter for the No. 13 Tigers (20-13) in an upset of No. 4 Wheaton North (21-10) in the Class 4A Wheaton North regional semifinals. Schuman struck out 13 and walked none, allowing an unearned run in the bottom of the seventh inning as WW South overcame 5 errors. The game was scoreless until the top of the fifth when the Tigers broke through for a run. They added 3 runs in the sixth. Steve Lemm, Nate Fillers, Kevin Bridges and Mike Shelton each had 2 hits. WW South will play Saturday#146;s winner between Glenbard North and Addison Trail in Monday#146;s regional final.Providence 6, Metea Valley 1:The Mustangs (14-16) fell to top-seeded Providence in the Class 4A Benet regional semifinals. Metea Valley took a 1-0 lead in the top of the first inning on Kenny Obendorf#146;s sacrifice fly that scored Jake Charuk, who went 2-for-4, but the Celtics answered with 4 runs in the bottom of the first.Downers South 2, Oswego East 0:Nick Burdi (5-1) pitched a 2-hitter with 12 strikeouts and a walk as the Mustangs (23-13) advanced to the Class 4A Hinsdale Central regional final. Nick Tenerelli, who went 3-for-3, hit a 2-run home run in the bottom of the first inning to account for the game#146;s only runs.
