Naperville 203 graduations a go

Naperville Unit District 203 high school students will graduate at 7 p.m. today at their respective athletic fields.

District officials had been concerned threatening weather would cause the ceremonies at Naperville Central and Naperville North to be delayed until Thursday evening. But at 3 p.m. today the district released a statement indicating the ceremonies will go on as planned.

According to the statement, graduates will enter the stadiums at 6:45 p.m. followed by an immediate awarding of the diplomas. If the weather holds, speeches will follow. If lightning is seen or moderate or heavy rains begin to fall during the ceremony, all graduates will be dismissed. Commencement will be considered concluded. No rescheduling will take place.

If lightning or rain is present at 6:30 p.m. commencement will be called off. The ceremony will be rescheduled to Thursday evening.

No determination on whether Thursday’s event will be an indoor or outdoor ceremony has been made at this time.
